There are millions of webpage owners out there who are selecting the free or low cost website hosting options out there that may not be the most appropriate option for a business website, or a commercial website. Most website owners need to come to understand that free ad-supported website hosting services are not the best option for everyone, even though most people assume that the free option is the best option.

Although most companies that offer ad-supported free website hosting services claim that the advertising will be small and out of the way on the website, oftentimes you end up stuck with a large banner stretching across your webpage layout. These annoying banner ads can make noise, flash colors, and generally serve as annoyances to each and every visitor to your website. Is that really how you want to portray your business to every single potential client who visits your website on a daily basis? Some ad-supported website hosting services use advertisements that choose which companies to advertise based on the website content on your website. While this sounds like a great idea in theory, because it creates more relevancy for your website, you may find that your advertisements are promoting your competitors! Is that what you really want? If a visitor arrives at your website, and the first thing that they see is a blinking, flashing, talking advertisement for your competitor, they may not stick around at your website for very long.

Website hosting is inexpensive in general, so there is no good reason for anyone to use free ad-supported website hosting for their business or commercial website, unless they enjoy offering free advertising for their competitors. For this reason, the decision to use this type of ad-supported website hosting should be carefully considered before any concrete decisions are made.

There are types of advertisements which are beneficial to your website, such as Google’s adwords. These advertisements may show competitor website links on your website, but if a visitor clicks on one of the links, you can make money! These are really the only on-site advertisements that are worthwhile. So opt for paid website hosting instead of free ad-supported website, then use Google AdWords to make back some of the cost! In the end, everything will balance out, and you will be much happier with the service that you are being given. If you are trying to run a successful commercial or business website, avoid free or low-cost ad-supported website hosting services, and you will be glad that you did in the long run!
