Which is the best hosting provider for your WordPress blog? With so many companies and packages how do you choose which is the best for your blog? I’ve compared the leading hosting providers so that you can make the right decision.

Today there are a lot of hosting companies which you can choose to host your WordPress blog. Not all are the same however. Most will provide a reasonable level of service, with good uptime and features. But when your blog traffic grows will your hosting package have enough bandwidth? As your blog files increase will you have enough disk space?

I have compared the leading hosting providers and short listed the top packages. Each of these is perfect for running a WordPress blog. They all offer great uptime and support and enough bandwidth and disk space for your blog to grow without you having to go through the painful task of moving hosting company. Here are the top WordPress hosting providers.

1st place goes to BlueHost. BlueHost are one of the leading hosting companies today. They offer those extra touches such as the latest version of cPanel and Fantastico, so that you can easily install and manage your WordPress blog. With a massive 300Gb of disk space and 3000Gb of bandwidth you can happily grow you blog content and readership without outgrowing your hosting package.

2nd place goes to HostGator. They are the fastest growing hosting company on the internet. This is due to their excellent customer care and support response. With an incredible 600Gb of disk space and 6000Gb of bandwidth your blog can grow and grow and grow. HostGator offer unlimited domains and databases, so if you are looking to host more than one blog on your account HostGator are perfect.

bronchiectasis treatment

logo_godaddy.gifThere are many ways to make money online but one of my favorite ways to do that is by reselling web hosting, I have been making money for a long time and today I will show you a technique that I have been using over and over again to make money reselling web hosting services without spending any money on pay per click or banner advertising.

By doing this I have been able to get 2-3 new web hosting customers every day, I usually spend around $1 or $2 dollars doing this but and you can repeat this over and over, remember that each new hosting customer you acquire usually keep on paying month after month if you provide a good service.

So here is what I did:

HostingZoom / ResellerZoom Problems: 403 Forbidden

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

403-forbidden.jpgI have a far amount of sites hosted at HostingZoom and ResellerZoom.  I haven’t had too much of a problem there and they’re cheap, which I love.  The support is great and I always get a response when I’m sending in support tickets.  But I do have a problem that no one over at HZ or RZ seems to understand and can help, so I thought I’d present it to you.

It actually happens on this very site.  When I try and access it from my Work computer, I get a “403 Forbidden” page and the pages says:

Forbidden
You don’t have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.37 Server at www.webatme.com Port 80

I have no clue why “webatme.com” is showing up and neither does tech support. Have you run into this problem?  If all else fails, I’m going to switch to a more reliable hosting carrier, since I’m not sure if its just me not seeing my OWN sites or if it’s everyone.

Pros and Cons of Shared Web Hosting

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

The main drawback of a shared web hosting plan is the fact that you are in reality sharing a single server with other websites, sometimes hundreds or even thousands of them. As you may imagine, when you are sharing space with this many websites, performance may take a hit. If you are on the same server with another bandwidth-hungry website, yours could actually be affected by it. If you find your website constantly loading slowly, you may want to try a different web host, because their server may be overloaded.

There are thousands of web hosting businesses out there who will happily host your website for a fee. The wide range of features, performance, and expenses of these web hosting companies can make it a bit overpowering when trying to choose a web host for your own website. In a recent article on HostingBat.com the web hosting expert describes some simple ways to ensure that you select the correct web hosting company for your own particular needs.

This article does not recommend any specific web hosting company, but fairly gives you some fundamental information which you can use to find the right web hosting company to fit your needs. It is too difficult to recommend any one web hosting business as being the best out there. There are many good web hosting companies across the Internet, and the fact is that there are no perfect web hosting companies out there.

One of the most important aspects of choosing a web hosting company is first deciding what kind of website you have, and then doing some research on how different web hosts can meet the needs of that website. If I can stress any one thing about choosing web hosts, I would stress that you must do some research on a company before you sign a contract with them. Don’t choose a web host based upon their sales page alone; you need to look beyond the numbers. Look to sites like HostingBat.com for your personal research on finding the right web hosting business to suit your needs.

Shared Web Hosting

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

According to a recent survey, shared web hosting is what about 90 percent of websites on the Internet use as their web hosting choice. The reason for this is the low cost of shared web hosting. Some web hosts offer shared hosting plans for as little as $2 per month, although most are around $10 per month. Shared web hosting plans are probably the best value when it comes to web hosting, because you typically get a nice chunk of bandwidth, control over your website, a good amount of storage, and plenty of email addresses. For most small websites, shared web hosting is the best value in terms of price and performance. The shared web hosting marketplace is so aggressive among web hosts that they are frequently offering new freebies and other incentives for you to select their company over the opposition.

Some of the top shared web hosting businesses will offer a 99.9 percent server uptime guarantee, 24/7 customer support, 10 GB or more of bandwidth, multiple sub-domain capabilities, and ample website disk space. If you find a shared web hosting company with numbers similar to the ones listed above, they may be a good fit for your small-to-medium sized website; do make sure, though, that they are a trusted company with good user reviews before going with them.

So as you can see, if you find a good web host with a solid shared hosting plan, it can be very beneficial to your website and your wallet. The numbers look fantastic on the majority of the shared web hosting plans, but they can be a bit misleading at times. On average, shared web hosting plans do not perform well when you are using large websites with lots of graphics, videos, and databases. If you prefer to use a shared web hosting plan, you must keep your website comparatively straightforward.

Choosing the Right Kind of Web Hosting

fever children

In a recent article on the internet, more specific information about the types of web hosting currently available was detailed. There is an extensive array of web hosting options available to those people looking to put their web site online, but the article talks about the main web hosting options. Take a closer look at free and budget hosting options, virtual private server (VPS) hosting, dedicated hosting, and colocation hosting.

There are a multiplicity of other web hosting options available; some instances of other web hosting options available to you are reseller hosting, PHP hosting, and enterprise hosting. Many of the other types of web hosting are just a slight deviation of the web hosting options that I will focus on in this article. So although there may be a lot of different names for various types of web hosting options, they all boil down to the basic fundamental options.

Web hosting differs significantly in price. Web hosting can cost be free in some cases, but the web host will often place ads on your web page. Free web hosting is also very limited in terms of features, bandwidth, and server uptime. Free web hosting is a good choice for personal web pages with very little traffic. The most expensive type of hosting is colocation hosting where you actually own a server, or make payments on it, which can cost over $1,000 per month. So as you can see, the cost of web hosting varies greatly.

The one web hosting option that stood out in the HostingBat.com article was Virtual Private Server (VPS).The vast benefit of VPS web hosting over shared hosting is that your website is not affected by other websites on the same server. You have absolute administrative control over your part of the server. Basically, VPS hosting is like having your own dedicated server but on a smaller scale. The extra cost of using VPS web hosting over a typical shared host is well worth it for complicated and/or heavily trafficked websites.

Types of Web Hosting

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

There are many types of web hosting services from free to dedicated hosting and there are resources available meant to enlighten readers with more web hosting terminology. Yet another type of dedicated web hosting is Self-Managed or Unmanaged. This is usually the least expensive for dedicated web hosting plans. The user has full administrative access to the box, which means the consumer is accountable for the security and preservation of his own committed box.

Users may also be interested in Managed web hosting service. In this service the user gets his or her own Web server but is not permitted complete run over it (root access for Linux/administrator access for Windows); nevertheless, they are permitted to handle their data via FTP or other remote management tools. The user is disallowed full control so that the provider can guarantee quality of service by not allowing the user to modify the server or potentially create configuration problems. The user typically does not own the server. The web hosting server is leased to the client.

A popular term you may have heard about is Colocation web hosting service. Much like the dedicated web hosting service, but the user owns the colo server; the hosting business supplies material space that the server takes up and takes care of the server. This is the most powerful and expensive type of the web hosting service. In most cases, the colocation provider may provide little to no support directly for their client’s machine, providing only the electrical, Internet access, and storage facilities for the server. In most cases for colo, the client would have his own administrator visit the data center on site to do any hardware upgrades or changes.

Not unlike collocation, clustered web hosting is having several servers hosting the same content for healthier resource utilization. And finally a new web hosting term creating buzz is Grid hosting. This type of web hosting is relatively new –a form of distributed web hosting is when a server cluster acts like a grid and is composed of multiple nodes.

Introduction to Web Hosting

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Web hosting service is a category of Internet hosting service that permits people and businesses to offer their own websites and make them accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosting is done by companies that supply space on a server they own for use by their customers as well as providing Internet connectivity, usually in a data center. Web hosting can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called collocation.

Web hosting uptime refers to the proportion of time the host is available via the internet. Numerous providers state that they aim for a 99.9% uptime, but there might be server restarts and planned (or unplanned) repairs in any web hosting situation. A familiar assertion from the popular web hosting providers is ‘99% or 99.9% server uptime’ but this frequently refers only to a server being powered on and doesn’t account for network downtime. Real downtime can potentially be bigger than the percentage assured by the provider. Many providers secure uptime, and accessibility, into their own Service Level Agreement, or SLA. SLAs may or may not contain refunds or reduced costs if performance targets are not met. Internet web hosting services can also run Web servers.

Free web hosting service is a cost-free, advertisement-supported web hosting, and is often restricted when contrasted to paid web hosting. Shared web hosting service is when one’s website is placed on the same server as many other sites, ranging from a few to hundreds or thousands. In general, all domains could split a common pool of server resources, such as RAM and the CPU. A shared website may be hosted with a reseller.

Reseller web hosting permits customers to become web hosts themselves. Resellers can function, for individual domains, under any mixture of these listed types of web hosting, depending on who they are allied with as a provider. Resellers’ accounts may vary tremendously in size and they may have their own virtual dedicated web hosting server to a collocated server.
