They may look a bit like an online infomercial paid for by web hosting providers and this is, in fact, sometimes the case. There are both free and commercially supported web hosting directories so take them with a grain of salt. On the other hand, often these directories contain real comments on web hosting services from unbiased users as well as informative articles, so don’t dismiss the web hosting directories out of hand.

With the web directory experience behind you, visiting actual web hosting sites is impossible to avoid. Take heart. Slowly your search will narrow to a few web hosting providers that can meet your needs. There is no guarantee that you will find the crème de la crème of web hosting providers, but in fact, there are plenty of good web hosting options out there.
