I’ve been on a shared host for a long time because it’s all I really needed.  My friend is a programmer and is use to using lots and lots hosting for clients, etc…  He told me that he has a dedicated server for a lot of his websites - because it really keeps everything clean. You never know what someone else has done on that same shared host.  I’ve heard horror stories of sites that put in a ton of money for marketing and the site went know where on the SEO side, because it had sites on the same shared host that did blackhat stuff.  NOT GOOD!
