By far the most cost effective way to get your website on the internet these days is to use what is called shared hosting. Shared hosting is where a net hosting company rents you a certain quantity of disk space in which to store the files that make up your website and allow you a certain quantity of bandwidth (ie. the data transfered between your site and your guests browsers) in exchange for a monthly fee. Typically speaking, the more you pay the more web space and bandwidth you will be given.

I’ve been on a shared host for a long time because it’s all I really needed. My friend is a programmer and is use to using lots and lots hosting for clients, etc… He told me that he has a dedicated server for a lot of his websites - because it really keeps everything clean. Check out Google Sniper by George Brown and Mafioso Marketing 2 by Rhys Davies.
You never know what someone else has done on that same shared host. I’ve heard horror stories of sites that put in a ton of money for marketing and the site went know where on the SEO side, because it had sites on the same shared host that did blackhat stuff. NOT GOOD!

I was perusing the web, as I usually do everyday, and found this new sharepoint hosting service. Turns out, they’re not so new and have been around for a while.
If you’re not familiar with Sharepoint, here’s a little excerpt from WIKI:
SharePoint is a web-based collaboration and document management platform from Microsoft. It can be used to host web sites that access shared workspaces and documents, as well as specialized applications like wikis and blogs from a browser. SharePoint does not intend to replace an entire file server (e.g., an imposed 2 gigabyte file size limitation). SharePoint functionality is exposed as web parts, such as a task list or discussion pane. These web parts are composed into web pages, which are then hosted in the SharePoint portal. SharePoint sites are actually ASP.NET 2.0 applications, which are served using IIS and use a SQL Server database as data storage backend.

In today’s web hosting industry it’s hard to distinguish between the inferior and the worthy web hosting companies, because the inferior ones are using different ways to cover up their lapses. Obviously, all they really want to do is make sales. So, instead of finding ways to improve their services, they simply snare more careless and unaware buyers by calling their ”ordinary sapphires, real diamonds” and luring them with unrealistic freebies.

This four basic things will serve as the yardsticks with which you can gauge their worthinesses and help you to differentiate between those in the industry to set higher standard, satisfy their customers with innovation and renovation of trends and those in there to do the opposite.

If you want a quick boost of traffic to your site, you might want to consider getting an expired domain name. What is an expired domain name? It is simply a domain name that has been abandoned by its original owner. This happens for a variety of reasons, with the most common being lack of funds or interest in the domain name. Either way, many expired domain names are already indexed in search engine results thanks to the marketing efforts of the previous owner. Search engine bots do not take into consideration that there is no longer a website associated with it.
